What is EchoCue?
EchoCue is a customer-communication and messaging-automation platform for service businesses. It sends SMS directly from your own Android phone and SIM card via the EchoCue Companion app (no third-party SMS gateway) and WhatsApp via the official Meta WhatsApp Business Cloud API (EchoCue is a verified Meta Tech Provider). It offers both a no-code dashboard and a full REST API + webhooks, plus native integrations with Google Calendar, Zapier, Make, and n8n.
How does EchoCue send SMS? Through an SMS gateway?
No. EchoCue does not use any third-party SMS gateway, aggregator, or reseller. SMS is sent directly from your own Android phone and the SIM card already in it, through the EchoCue Companion Android app. Messages display your own phone number to recipients and use your existing carrier plan, so there are no per-message carrier fees billed by EchoCue. This is the core SMS delivery model, not a fallback.
Can EchoCue manage multiple SMS numbers across locations?
Yes. You can pair multiple Android phones under a single EchoCue workspace, each with its own SIM and phone number. On paid plans, sending from a paired device does not consume any credits, so multi-location businesses can add a phone per location without changing their per-message cost. Every SMS reply routes into the same unified inbox as your WhatsApp conversations, with a per-thread label showing which number received it, and the compose form lets you pick which number to send from. Plan limits: Free and Starter allow 1 paired device, Growth allows 4, and Scale allows 12. SMS phones and WhatsApp numbers share the same device limit.
Does EchoCue support multiple WhatsApp Business Accounts?
Yes. You can connect multiple WhatsApp Business Accounts (one per business, brand, region, or market), and EchoCue keeps each WABA's templates and sends isolated. Templates approved on one Meta account cannot accidentally send via another account's device; the system blocks the mismatch with a clear error message. On Growth and Scale plans, all WhatsApp numbers (and your SMS devices) feed into a single unified inbox with per-thread device labels and a device filter, so you can manage every conversation in one place.
Do I need an Android app to use EchoCue?
Only for SMS. SMS messages send from your own Android phone and SIM via the EchoCue Companion app, which is why there are no per-message carrier fees. WhatsApp does not require any app. It uses the official Meta Cloud API and works entirely from the web dashboard.
Does EchoCue have a REST API for developers?
Yes. EchoCue is both a no-code dashboard and a developer platform. The full REST API is available on every plan including the Free tier, with API key + secret authentication, webhook callbacks for inbound messages and delivery status, native integrations with Zapier, Make, and n8n, and a public OpenAPI 3.1 specification. See the Developers and API Reference pages.
How does EchoCue's WhatsApp pricing work?
On plans that include WhatsApp, EchoCue gives you unlimited WhatsApp messages with no per-message markup. Because EchoCue is a verified Meta Tech Provider, Meta bills your WhatsApp Business Account directly per conversation (variable by country and category). EchoCue does not add a markup on top of Meta's fees.
How long does it take to set up EchoCue?
SMS setup typically takes under 10 minutes: sign up, install the Android Companion app, connect Google Calendar. WhatsApp setup takes about 5 minutes once you have a Meta Business Portfolio: click Connect with Meta and complete the Embedded Signup popup.
Does EchoCue have a free trial?
Yes. The Free plan is permanently free (10 SMS per month, 1 device, no credit card required) so you can test EchoCue before upgrading. Paid plans start at $9.99/month.
Can I integrate EchoCue with my existing tools?
Yes. EchoCue has native integrations with Zapier (5,000+ apps), Make (formerly Integromat), and n8n. There is also a full REST API at https://api.echocue.com:5501/v1 with webhook callbacks for inbound messages, delivery status, template approval, and WhatsApp quality updates.
Can I invite my team to share an inbox?
Yes. The Growth plan includes up to 3 teammates and Scale includes up to 10. Invite anyone by email; they sign in with their own EchoCue account but see the same workspace conversations, contacts, templates, and devices. Roles are admin (can invite, manage billing, and assign threads) or member (can send, reply, and edit shared resources). Anyone can claim a conversation so the rest of the team knows it's being handled, and admins can assign or transfer threads to a specific person.
Is EchoCue suitable for non-technical users?
Yes. The dashboard is designed for small business owners with no coding required. You connect Google Calendar, pick a pre-built reminder template, and EchoCue sends reminders automatically. Developers can also use the REST API and webhooks for custom integrations.
